John D. (“Dan”) Miranda is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Jefferson Parish Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, St. Tammany Parish Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the Eastern, Middle, and Western Federal District Courts of Louisiana, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Louisiana Supreme Court, and all state district and appellate courts of Louisiana. Dan graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University in 1996. He graduated from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2007, and was an LSU Board of Supervisors Scholarship Recipient and A.J. Spedale Scholarship Recipient while in law school.
Before Dan became a lawyer, he fulfilled a calling to public service by obtaining an appointment on the staff of Governor M.J. “Mike” Foster, Jr., where he proudly served the citizens of Louisiana from 1998-2004. Dan’s first job on the Governor’s staff was in the Office of Constituent Services, where he worked to assist ordinary, everyday citizens to navigate through the “red tape” of bureaucracy to get the services they deserved. Dan served in several capacities, including Constituent Services Representative, Coordinator of Constituent Services, Scheduling Coordinator, Special Assistant to the Governor, and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs. Among his proudest achievements were his involvement in helping families who were arbitrarily denied the “TOPS” award and in helping guide through the legislature passage of a Constitutional Amendment preventing the citizens of Louisiana from being liable for a $2.2 Billion Dollar judgment against the State by oyster fisherman claiming damages as a result of the State’s efforts to prevent coastal erosion. The rewards of helping people during Dan’s public service has had a profound and lasting impact, and continues to guide his philosophy in the practice of law.
Dan, his wife, Kelly, and their three children, Abigail, John Benjamin, and Mainey Catherine, live in Mandeville. Dan has served on the Greenleaves Plantation HOA Board of Directors since 2011. Born and raised in South Louisiana, Dan likes to go fishing and enjoys cooking Italian and Cajun/Creole dishes learned from his parents and grandparents, but above all, he relishes spending time with family and friends.
